D5 – All Things Digital 5

Owned by Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, AllThingsD.com is a Web site devoted to news, analysis and opinion on technology, the Internet and media. D5 2007, the latest exectuive conference, features 3 days of no-holds-barred conversations with tech’s thought leaders:

  • Eric Schmidt: Google CEO
  • Steve Ballmer: Microsoft CEO
  • George Lucas: Lucasfilm Chairman
  • Steve Case: America Online (AOL) CEO
  • John Chambers: Cisco CEO
  • especially the historic discussion between Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates

That’s what they said years ago:

To create a new standard, it takes something that’s not just a little bit different, it takes something that’s really new and really captures people’s imagination, and the Macintosh, of all the machines I’ve ever seen, is the only one that meets that standard (Bill Gates, 1984)

If I were running Apple, I would milk the Macintosh for all it’s worth–and get busy on the next great thing. The PC wars are over. Done. Microsoft won a long time ago (Steve Jobs, 1996)

You must be excited to hear what the two titans of tech shared today 😀 so go ahead and check out the full coverage here; and don’t forget to watch other online full videos. That’s pretty cool for a Vesak Day 🙂

Crash

Well said Graham:

It’s the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We’re always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.

Crash

But it’s not just in L.A, it’s everywhere; and everyone of us must miss that touch so much.

Desperate Housewives, some thoughts

Time flies, really. It’s almost 8 months since Desperate Housewives (DHW) Season 3 first started; and it ends today, with season finale episode 23Getting Married Today. DHW is one of the best TV shows ever made ❗ hats off, hands down, and no more argues 🙂 Sharing almost the same tag lines with The Sopranos which are: re-define your family, re-define your friendships, and re-define your social relationships; DHW, however, has its own unique way to make you say “WoW!”. Every episode closes brilliantly, leaving you with a question of what might come next, wondering how the dirty laundry comes to clean 😈
